Hello everyone,
I was reading the forums here and I see a lot of questions concerning licensing of fonts with some very competent people replying. I'm hoping that someone can clarify my position regarding font licensing.
I'm a new small publisher in the UK, and intend to make print on demand books via Lightning Source.I hadn't quite appreciated the scope of font licensing and want to make sure I get it right.
I need to purchase or license a font for use in the books I'll be publishing. The font will only be used on my computer for typesetting. The font will then be embedded in a non-editable PDF to go to Lightning Source, who only use the file to print physical copies of the book.
I will also be doing eBooks but these will NOT have any fonts embedded in them. I only make this clear because some licenses seem to differ if you're commercially selling an electronic file with the font embedded. The only file that will have it embedded is the PDF which is itself not sold, only used for printing.
I did read somewhere in these forums that all Adobe fonts are licensed for this.
If someone could please put my mind at rest as to what I need to buy I would be very grateful.
Many thanks!
